CINEMA ARTS & FILM
Are you a filmmaker or a film buff interested in connecting with other students who love the cinema arts? This is the place for you.
Documentary Films
Doc Films is a student-led, volunteer-run movie theater and film society with roots going back to 1932, making it the oldest student film society in the nation, per the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA.) The Doc Films group has a long-standing commitment to providing a wide variety of cinema to the University of Chicago and Hyde Park community, showing a different film every day of the quarter — and on celluloid when possible, continuing the valuable art and experience of film exhibition.
Fire Escape Films
Fire Escape Films is the film production society at the University of Chicago. Our goal is to sustain a community of student filmmakers and raise awareness about media-oriented projects and opportunities. We help produce features, shorts, music videos, and spots on digital and film formats.
UChicago Japanese Animation Society
UCJAS gets together once a week to watch anime from a mix of genres and epochs, hosts screening events, hold a Game Night, hosts its very own one-day annual anime convention called UChi-Con, and participates in Anime Central's Skit competition.
