Links Hall most effectively realizes its mission by serving as an artistic incubator and launchpad. Through its residency programs, artist-curated festivals, fiscal sponsorship program, co-presentations with self-producing artists, cabarets, performance series, workshops, and low-cost studio rentals, Links provides a home for artists across all performance disciplines, at all stages of their careers. For 51 weeks each year, Links encourages artists and audiences to take an equal risk. Founded in 1978 by three experimental choreographers, Links Hall became a National Performance Network presenting partner in 1998. In April 2013, Links Hall and musician/presenter Mike Reed created a new collaborative arts venue as the shared home of the for-profit Constellation and the non-profit Links Hall.
Links Hall encourages artistic innovation and public engagement by maintaining a facility and providing flexible programming for the research, development, and presentation of new work in the performing arts. See Chicago Dance named Links Hall as the “Fearlessly Inspired” organization of 2020 noting the adaptive spirit and unfailing desire to support artists of all kinds.
