Join us for a UChicago Arts Pass exclusive for the Steppenwolf Theater’s World Premiere of Leroy and Lucy. Two lost souls meet at a crossroads, in the dead of night, deep in the Mississippi of it all. They laugh, they flirt, they make sweet music. Together, they conjure a familiar sound from long ago, one of wondrous deals and dangerous aspirations. In this sultry world premiere inspired by the myth of musician Robert Johnson, the Delta Blues fills the air, and every strum has the chance to change your life. Join Emily Hooper Lansana from the Theater and Performance Studies Program and the Logan Center, as well as guests from Steppenwolf in a pre-performance conversation.
An optional, bus will depart from the Logan Center for the Arts at 5:30 pm. The pre-performance conversion will occur from 6:30-7:15pm, followed by the performance at 7:30 pm. The bus will depart the museum at 9:15 pm to arrive back at the Logan Center by 10 pm.

110 musicians from Chicago Philharmonic, accompanied by a full choir, bring Wojciech Kilar’s haunting score to life in sync with Francis Ford Coppola’s cinematographic retelling of Bram Stoker’s novel. Join Prof. AE Stevenson from the Department of Cinema and Media Studies, as well as LaRob K. Rafael, Prof. Beata Bolesławska, Magdalena Miśka-Jackowska, and Aleksander Dębicz in a pre-concert conversation hosted by the Chicago Philharmonic.

Alexander Hofmann, Professor in the Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences, will lead a discussion of the museum’s Picturing Chicago collection to explore questions like, “How can we use photographs of what some might consider banal to read extraordinary things about everyday life out of them? How can we use our affective responses as research tools? Where does that affective response come from—us, the historical circumstances, or the aesthetics?”
